24 HOUR Animation Competition

I had the honor of competing on behalf of Kendall College of Art and Design two years in a row in the 24 HOUR Animation Competition. In 2022 I was on team Trash Box, and in 2023 I was on team War Pigeons.

On teams of five, we are given a prompt at the top of the competition, and 24 hours later we had to turn in a 30 second animation with completely original assets. We work through the night while lock-in style at our school, where we have to manage our time and abilities while dealing with little to no sleep in a great exercise of teamwork and camaraderie. We competed against hundreds of animation schools and even high schools around the world, where the competition is steep. Although neither project ended up placing overall, I'm proud of the work accomplished and grew as an artist each year.

Unlikely Friends was our video submission in 2022, following the prompt "What will our future look like?"

I was lead storyboard artist, a background artist, and a character animator for the bird and the alleyway robot scene.

Team Trash Box: Sabrina Nelson, Alexis Schineman, Alec Lucksted, David Bender and Jake Olrich.

Spark was our video submission in 2023, following the prompt "A love letter to animation."

I was a storyboard artist, lead audio designer, and lead animator for the surreal, painterly section. I also compiled all the visual and audio components together to make the final video.

Team War Pigeons: Sabrina Nelson, Alexis Schineman, Ethan Frazer, Mak Beebee and Simon Case.
