The Culling of E.D.E.N.

The Culling of E.D.E.N. is a video game concept created by Blushing Dino Studios. We were charged with creating a 10-15 minute demo and a promotional trailers deliverables, as well as define designs and storyline for what the world of The Culling of E.D.E.N. would entail.

This game was created to challenge our audience's current perception of what it means to advocate for the environmental health of our planet. Through main character Poncho, we follow a security guard forced to navigate a world destroyed by the company they work for, the E.D.E.N. Corporation. On their journey back to home and safety, they run into the spirits of the forest, who implore Poncho to help, or at the very least observe with fresh eyes what E.D.E.N. has truly done to their homes. With platforming and choice driven gameplay, we use themes of small actions have big payoff, and that inaction can be as bad as actively harming the world around you. 

 

I had the honor of being product owner for the game side of production, as well as working as a writer, audio designer, motion graphic artist and technical artist.

 

Along with my team, we conducted our own research, developed a script and storyboard for gameplay and the trailer, and produced all assets in house. I was responsible for developing the story the game would follow, how levels would be laid out and the various endings players could get, as well as developing the music for both projects, tracking and mastering voiceover work, designing UI elements such as the dialogue box and menu screen, and creating the motion graphics needed such as the animated logo and the text in the trailer. This project is set to present our deliverables early December 2023.

The music I created for the Level 1 demo created for the game. For the first two pieces, I made a musical intro that would trigger in game, and they would lead into a musical loop that would repeat until the next section of the level. I also created the song used in the trailer above.
